Belarus, Thailand to step up efforts to prepare economic cooperation agreement

MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) – Belarus and Thailand will step up efforts to prepare a trade and economic cooperation agreement. These issues were on the agenda of the meeting of Belarus Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei with Thailand Minister of Foreign Affairs Don Pramudwinai on 28 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the negotiations the Belarusian minister of foreign affairs pointed out the interest of Belarus in the enhancement of Belarus-Thailand cooperation. “In this context, we will reach an agreement on the exchange of visits of the representatives of various ministries and business circles till the end of 2016, step up efforts to prepare a draft trade and economic cooperation agreement and set up an intergovernmental commission on the basis of this agreement,” the press release of the press service reads.

Vladimir Makei also met with Mohammed Shahriar Alam, State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh. “The sides outlined the ways to intensify the contacts between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries, reached an agreement on the exchange of visits of the representatives of business circles, discussed the organization of the session of the Belarus-Bangladesh commission for trade and economic cooperation,” the press release of the press service reads.

The meetings took place on the sidelines of the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Beijing which was attended by Vladimir Makei on 28 April. During the CICA meeting he also met with Ukraine Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin, Foreign Minister of Pakistan Sartaj Aziz, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Dang Dinh Quy.
