Belarus sends draft agreement on mutual abolition of visas to UAE

MINSK, 30 November (BelTA) - Belarus has sent over to the United Arab Emirates a draft agreement on mutual abolition of visas, Belarus’ First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Yevdochenko said at today's session of the upper house of the Belarusian Parliament, BelTA has learned.

“The work is underway,” Andrei Yevdochenko said when asked whether there were any plans to cancel visas for Belarusian citizens who do not hold diplomatic passports. “We already sent over to the UAE the draft agreement on mutual abolition of visas in November 2017. Actually, we offer standard terms: a 30-day stay, not more than 90 days during a year, as is the practice with other countries,” Andrei Yevdochenko said.

The Council of the Republic approved the ratification of the protocol on amendments and additions to the intergovernmental agreement between Belarus and the United Arab Emirates to abolish visas for holders of diplomatic passports. The protocol was signed in Minsk on 10 May 2017 to create a legal framework for regulating issues related to the simplification of visa procedures for citizens of Belarus and the UAE with diplomatic, service and special passports.

In line with the protocol, holders of special passports of Belarus and the UAE can enter, stay, leave or transit through the territory of the other state without a visa for the period of up to 90 days.
