Belarus, Russia’s Tyumen Oblast to step up cooperation

MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia’s Tyumen Oblast will step up cooperation in light industry, power engineering, and agribusiness, BelTA learned from Tyumen Oblast Vice Governor Vladimir Cheimetov after the session of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Tyumen Oblast on 20 September.

Vladimir Cheimetov said: “We are interested in implementing joint projects relating to light industry. During our visit to Belarus we are going to discuss a joint project for footwear manufacturing in Tyumen Oblast. The development of the peat industry is also important for us. Belarus boasts serious accomplishments in this field. We are interested in it, this is why we are going to take a closer look at this avenue of cooperation. We have something to learn from our Belarusian colleagues in energy effectiveness, too. We are also going to advance our relations in agriculture, in particular, in training agriculture professionals.” He also pointed out that a large number of agricultural machines used in Tyumen Oblast had been made in Belarus.

In turn, Belarusian Energy Minister Vladimir Potupchik noted that Tyumen Oblast is an important strategic partner for Belarus. “There are now significant prospects for advancing our cooperation across the board, including power engineering, mechanical engineering, agriculture, forestry industry, peat industry, and light industry,” he said.
