Belarus, Russia’s Ivanovo Oblast sign cooperation plan for 2018-2020

MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) – Belarus and Ivanovo Oblast of Russia signed a plan of action for 2018-2020 to develop trade and economic, scientific and cultural cooperation, BelTA leaned from the press service of the Belarusian state light industry concern Bellegprom following the visit of a Belarusian delegation led by Bellegprom chairman Nikolai Yefimchik to Ivanovo Oblast.

According to the document, the sides are set to boost trade, to intensify social and economic cooperation at the interregional level, bolster ties between the light industry companies, organize business missions, to promote agricultural exports, organize electronic exchange between libraries, to exchange events in culture, tourism and education.

"We have already identified the areas for our cooperation. These are textile industry, agriculture and machine-building. We are set to explore the new areas including the production and processing of linen. Belarus has a wealth of experience in the field," Governor of Russia's Ivanovo Oblast Pavel Konkov said.

During the second meeting of the joint working group on cooperation between Belarus and Ivanovo Oblast, Belarus suggested supplying electronic buses and lifts to Ivanovo and also establishing a maintenance center for agricultural equipment made in Belarus as, according to the governor, about 70% of the agricultural equipment used in the Russian region is Belarus-made.
