Belarus, Russia draw up agreement on transport security

MINSK, 12 April (BelTA) – The governments of Belarus and Russia have drawn up an agreement on transport security, Alexander Korniyenko, director of the department for transport security and special programs of the Russian Transport Ministry, said during the 52nd session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Belarus-Russia Union State, BelTA informs.

“The governments of Belarus and Russia have draw up an agreement on cooperation in transport security in order to set up the unified mechanisms of cooperation that will help identify and prevent acts of unlawful interference in the transport industry in international passenger and cargo transportation. We believe that the adoption of this document will make the Russian-Belarusian cooperation more efficient and will kick-start the further improvement of the legal framework,” Alexander Korniyenko said.

The aim of the document is to establish cooperation between the countries in developing legal, organizational and other measures to ensure security in the transport industry. “The agreement is relevant because we need to enhance the effectiveness of the Russian-Belarusian cooperation in protection of transport infrastructure and vehicles,” the director of the department pointed out.

The session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State to discuss the improvement of traffic security in the Union State is running in Minsk on 12-13 April.
