Belarus president to visit Gomel Oblast

GOMEL, 10 August (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko is expected to visit Gomel Oblast, BelTA has learned.

The head of state is expected to visit the Gomel Oblast Children Clinical Hospital in order to get familiar with its reconstruction, the organization of work in the healthcare institution and the physical infrastructure.

Social and economic development of Gomel Oblast will be high on the agenda of the working trip.

While in Gomel Alexander Lukashenko will also visit the agricultural mechanical engineering company Gomselmash to get familiar with the state and prospects of the company’s development, efforts of its engineering design division to create new high-performance grain and forage harvesters. The head of state will be informed about the fulfillment of instructions to develop the domestic harvester engineering industry.

The Gomel Oblast Children Clinical Hospital was reconstructed from 2016 through July 2018. Design and construction work proceeded in parallel. The reconstruction has increased the number of beds from 362 to 552. The oblast hospital has taken over a number of children healthcare functions from other institutions. New equipment has been installed.

OAO Gomselmash makes harvesters for gathering in cereal crops, corn, colza, forage crops, potato, and flax in addition to making mowers. Fixed-capital investments in the company totaled Br69.3 million in 2011-2017. As many as 346 units of plant and equipment were commissioned. Thanks to new technologies and equipment the company’s designed output capacity has been raised to 5,000 pieces per annum.

During this year’s harvesting campaign Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko gave instructions to demonstrate a modern high-performance harvester with qualities on par with the world’s best. Design documents for the Gomselmash KZS-2124 harvester model have been worked out to take into account the latest trends in harvester engineering. The machine will continue the lineup based on the top-performance grain harvester KZS-1624-1.

Three harvesters of the new model have been made for the harvesting season. The new harvester is designed for agricultural enterprises growing cereal crops with yields in excess of 60-70 centners per hectare. The new model’s performance and harvesting quality are on par with the best foreign competitor – Claas’ Lexion 770 harvester – while the price is twice as low.
