Belarus president goes to Uzbekistan on official visit

MINSK, 12 September (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has gone to Uzbekistan on an official visit. The aircraft with the Belarusian head of state on board left Minsk National Airport, BelTA informs.

In Tashkent the Belarusian head of state will hold talks with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the narrow format and in the extended format with the participation of the delegations. It is expected that the sides will focus on the expansion of trade and economic cooperation, development of industrial cooperation and opening of assembly plants to produce in-demand equipment in Uzbekistan. The sides will also discuss the enhancement of interaction in other areas, from manufacturing to agriculture, humanitarian field and tourism. They will pay special attention to the development of regional cooperation as an efficient instrument for bolstering trade and economic ties. The presidents are expected discuss topical issues on the regional and international agendas.

After the talks the sides are expected to sign a package of bilateral documents on the expansion of cooperation across the board.

Apart from the visit of Alexander Lukashenko, Tashkent will host the Belarus-Uzbekistan forum of business and regional cooperation. Enterprises and representatives of business circles will sign a number of commercial contracts, regional authorities of the two countries will conclude agreements. There will be a large-scale exposition of Belarusian manufacturers Made in Belarus in the capital city of Uzbekistan. Thematic expositions will feature Belarusian achievements in machine building and transport, chemistry and oil chemistry, construction and wood processing, agriculture and food production, healthcare and pharmaceutics, light industry, science and technology, education, sport and tourism.
