Belarus president awards general’s shoulder boards

MINSK, 5 July (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko awards general’s shoulder boards to representatives of the country’s law-enforcement bodies at a ceremony to honor the graduates of the military higher education institutions and senior officers on 5 July, BelTA has learned.

The major general’s shoulder straps have been presented to Andrei Burdyko, Andrei Zhuk, Gennady Kozlovsky and Igor Korol.

Sergei Doroshko and Vladimir Zakharchuk have been promoted to the rank of major general of the police.

Dmitry Konoplyanik has been appointed to the rank of major general of justice.

First Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee Vladimir Orlovsky has been promoted to the rank of customs service state counselor third class.

During the awards ceremony Alexander Lukashenko stressed that the country’s authorities and the Belarusian people have confidence in their law enforcers and believe in their energy and initiative, responsibility and high professionalism.

“I am convinced that these ranks are bestowed upon the best of the best. Not everyone can bear these “heavy” shoulder boards. Live up to them. You are special people and a special responsibility lies with you. Remember what we have been destined for. We have only one duty and one goal: in difficult times we should be in the front and, if needed, die in the name of our people. We should remember this,” the head of state stressed.
