Belarus, Poland sign memorandum of understanding in healthcare

MINSK, 20 April (BelTA) – The Healthcare Ministries of Belarus and Poland have signed a memorandum of understanding in the areas of health service, medicine and medical science. The document was signed by Healthcare Ministers Valery Malashko and Konstanty Radziwill, BelTA has learned.

The document envisages an exchange of information and experience in the implementation of state investment projects in the healthcare system, in the area of medical aid in emergencies, medical research and education, promotion of cooperation and establishment of direct ties between the medical universities of the two countries.

During the visit of the Polish delegation the parties discussed cooperation in the areas of health service, medical education and science, pharmaceutics, cross-border cooperation between the two states. “Our branch of the pharmaceutical industry is relatively young yet rapidly developing. I have no doubts that if we establish cooperation between Belarusian and Polish companies, we will be able to develop medical products that will be in demand both in Belarus and the Eurasian Economic Union,” noted Valery Malashko.

The Polish delegation visited the Alexandrov National Cancer Centre of Belarus. Konstanty Radziwill got familiar with the Belarusian tertiary care. On 21 April the Polish healthcare minister is expected to visit the Belarusian State Medical University to discuss cooperation in medical education.
