MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) – Prospects of cooperation between Belarus and the OSCE were discussed at the meeting between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Austria Alena Kupchyna and OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The parties discussed the current level of cooperation between Belarus and the OSCE, prospects to develop interaction in political, economic, humanitarian and environmental areas. The parties also shared opinions on the regional and European security issues of current importance,” the ministry noted.
At the meeting Lamberto Zannier was handed a notification from the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the appointment of Alena Kupchyna as Belarus’ Permanent Representative in the OSCE.
Alena Kupchyna also met with Secretary General of the Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Austria Michael Linhart to present the copies of credentials.
The parties discussed the bilateral agenda, a number of joint events aimed at boosting Belarus-Austria cooperation in political, economic and other sectors, including the forthcoming celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Belarus and Austria, and also Belarus’ presidency in the Central European Initiative and Austria’s presidency in the OSCE.
The parties also shared opinions regarding Belarus-EU cooperation prospects.
