Belarus, Israel to strengthen interparliamentary ties

MINSK, 9 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Israel have agreed to develop relations in the interparliamentary dimension, Chairman of the Council of the Republic’s Permanent Commission on Regional Policy and Local Government Alexander Popkov said following the meeting between the working group on cooperation with Knesset at the National Assembly and Tali Ploskov, deputy Knesset speaker, head of the Israel-Belarus interparliamentary friendship league on 9 June, BelTA has learned.

“We agreed to finalize a plan of action to intensify Belarus-Israel interparliamentary cooperation,” Alexander Popkov remarked.

Belarus is interested in promoting all-round collaboration with Israel in trade, economy, science, technology, agriculture, and healthcare. Special emphasis will be placed on tourism as well.

The two countries have a large potential for intensifying trade. “We have great prospects. I believe that the plans for cooperation in science, technology, investment, and tourism that we have discussed today will help us launch an array of joint projects,” Alexander Popkov added.

In turn, Tali Ploskov pointed out that these matters are of great importance for both countries. “We have agreed to promote cooperation. Each meeting will be devoted to a certain topic. I believe that today’s talks will give an impetus to new joint projects,” the deputy Knesset speaker summarized.
