Belarus, Iraq healthcare ministries sign memorandum of understanding

MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) – The healthcare ministries of Belarus and Iraq have signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation. The document was signed by Healthcare Minister of Belarus Valery Malashko and Healthcare Minister of Iraq Adeelah Humood, BelTA learned from the Head of the External Affairs Department of the Healthcare Ministry Anatoly Grushkovsky after the visit of the Healthcare Ministry’s delegation to Iraq’s Baghdad and Karbala.

The sides discussed promising avenues of bilateral interaction, for example, the delivery of Belarusian medications, medical equipment and devices to Iraq, the treatment of Iraqi patients in Belarus, provision of high-technology medical aid in leading healthcare organizations. The sides also discussed the development of cooperation between healthcare institutions, the expansion of interaction in medical education, the exchange of experience, the work of Belarusian specialists in Iraqi institutions.

The delegation of Belarus visited the hospital of Karbala, met with Iraqi partners, held presentations of Belarusian medications and medical services. After the visit the parties signed agreements on cooperation and concluded contracts on the delivery of medications.

The delegation included the representatives of the leading medical research centers (the centers of oncology and medical radiology, traumatology and orthopedics, children’s surgery, cardiology), the state operator of medical tourism Clinics of Belarus, pharmaceutical enterprises Belmedpreparaty, Borisov plant of medications, Minskintercaps, Lekpharm, Nativita.
