Dmitry Mironchik noted that the Belarusian side sees positive dynamics in relations with Mexico, including in the economy. For example, the trade turnover between the countries has doubled in the past seven years. However, Belarus would like to increase this volume. “Mexico is the 11th economy in the world. It is a huge market with the population of 125 million. This is an interesting country for us, we are looking for the means to develop relations with it,” he said.
The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said that head of the America department Oleg Kravchenko pays a visit to Mexico on 21-26 June. “The main objective of the visit is to hold ministerial consultations, present Belarus’ trade and investment potential in front of business circles,” Dmitry Mironchik said. Mexico City will also host talks with the representatives of a number of government bodies and NGOs.
“The sides are expected to discuss the enhancement of political and economic cooperation, interaction in international organizations, development of the legal framework of bilateral relations. Establishment of scientific, cultural and Interparliamentary ties,” Dmitry Mironchik added.
BelTA reported earlier that in May 2015 Magdalena del Socorro Nunez Monreal, a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the General Congress of the United Mexican States, chairperson of the Mexico-Belarus group of friendship, visited Belarus. She told Belarusian MPs that Mexico has plans to appoint Honorary Consul in Belarus.
