MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) – The Belarusian Healthcare Ministry and the WHO Regional Office for Europe (WHO/Europe) have discussed a draft plan of cooperation till 2019. This information was placed on the website of the Healthcare Ministry with a reference to Head of the Foreign Affairs Department at the Healthcare Ministry Anatoly Grushkovsky, BelTA informs.

The 67^th session of the WHO Regional Office for Europe is taking place in Budapest. The Belarusian delegation led by Deputy Healthcare Minister Vyacheslav Shilo attended it. He delivered a report on the national experience regarding the issues on the agenda. The working meetings with leaders of foreign delegations focused on the expansion of bilateral cooperation in healthcare. The meeting with WHO Regional Director for Europe Zsuzsanna Jakab focused on a draft two-year plan of cooperation between the Healthcare Ministry and the WHO/Europe in 2018-2019.

The participants of the session discussed a roadmap of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with a reliance on the European healthcare policy Health 2020, progress in environmental protection and healthcare, efforts of the member states to provide a better access to medications, strengthening of a lab potential in the region, etc. They also discussed reports on the progress in the implementation of the European Alcohol Action Plan 2012-2020, the European Food and Nutrition Action Plan 2015–2020, and the European Mental Health Action Plan.

Four members of the Executive Committee have been appointed; four members of the WHO/Europe Permanent Committee and other bodies have been elected.

Partaking in the session were WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Regional Director for Europe Zsuzsanna Jakab, healthcare ministers, high-ranking representatives of 53 member states of WHO/Europe, collaborating organizations and the civil society.
