Belarus government action plan for H2 2016 approved

MINSK, 15 June (BelTA) – The activity plan of the Council of Ministers and the Presidium of the Council of Ministers for the second half of 2016 has been approved by Resolution No.464 of 14 June 2016, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian government.

The Council of Ministers is expected to review the performance of the real economic sector in H1 2016 and additional measures to implement goals for 2016. The meetings of the Council of Ministers will also focus on the draft social and economic development forecast for 2017 and main guidelines for 2018-2019, major areas of the monetary policy and the national budget for 2017. Apart from that, the activity plan for H2 2016 will include the discussion of the measures adopted to enhance the efficiency of economic performance and progress made in the implementation of President’s Decree No.78 of 23 February 2016.

The Presidium of the Council of Ministers will take stock of the progress made in the fulfillment of the tasks for 2016 in part of job creation and employment, efficiency of free economic zones, import substitution and domestic market protection measures. Executive committees of Brest, Vitebsk, Grodno Oblasts and also the Minsk City Hall will present their reports on measures to boost exports of goods and services, reduce prime costs of products (works, services), attract foreign investment and implement investment projects funded from foreign sources.

Besides, the meetings of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers will highlight the progress in the implementation of the state investment program for 2016, results of the logistics system development program for the period until 2015 and a similar program for 2016-2020. The Presidium will also consider the system of measures to protect the interests of domestic producers in the light industry with products sold to the domestic market and export support in entering foreign markets. The focus will also be on the financial and economic state of organizations of the cement and glass industries, efforts to reduce the prime costs of their products and the implementation of the program on efficient use of the capacities of the cement industry companies for 2015-2020.

High on the agenda will also be issues related to the instructions of the head of state and the government to enhance the efficiency of the forestry sector, as well as the implementation of state program on the development of the digital economy and knowledge society for 2016-2020 and other issues.
