Belarus, Georgia sign agreement on cooperation in culture

Photo by the Embassy of Belarus in GeorgiaMINSK, 20 November (BelTA) – An agreement on cooperation in culture was signed between Belarus and Georgia during the first Days of Belarus’ Culture in Tbilisi, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy.

The agreement was signed after the meeting between Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy and Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili. The document was inked by Belarus’ Culture Minister Yuri Bondar and Georgian Culture Minister Micheil Giorgadze.

The memorandum of cooperation was concluded between the Belarusian State of the Red Labor Banner's Philharmonic and the Tbilisi State Concert Hall.

According to the embassy, the Days of Belarusian Culture featured a diverse program of the Belarusian culture and traditions. It included performances by vocal and choreographic groups, opera singers, free screenings of films by Belarusian producers, an exhibition of the Yanka Kupala Museum, dedicated to the work of the Belarusian writer in Georgia.

The opening ceremony of the days and a gala concert at the Shota Rustaveli State Academic Theater of Georgia in Tbilisi were attended by Mikhail Rusy, First Vice Premier Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Dmitry Kumsishvili, Vice Premier Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Mikheil Janelidze, Georgian MPs, representatives of Tbilisi City Hall and the diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia, intellectuals, the diaspora and many others.

The event featured the Belarusian State Academic Dance Company Khoroshki, the Belarusian State Ensemble Pesnyary, Honored Artist of Belarus Alena Lanskaya, soloist of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus, Honored Artist of Belarus Vladimir Gromov, and Belarus’ entry at the 2017 Junior Eurovision Helena Meraai.

The program also included an exhibition of the National History Museum entitled as Belarus and Belarusians.
