Belarus’ Emergencies Ministry, RCF discuss BelNPP security

MINSK, 8 June (BelTA) – Ways to maintain security at the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant were discussed at a working meeting of Belarusian Deputy Emergencies Minister Anatoly Dolgolevets with the top officials of the Regulatory Cooperation Forum (RCF)  - Bismark Tyobeka, Chairman  of the RCF and CEO of South Africa's National Nuclear Regulator and Nader Mamish of the USA, Vice Chairman of the RCF, as well as with IAEA senior officials David Senior and Stewart Magruder, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry.

The parties discussed issues related to security maintenance at the BelNPP, including various aspects of regulating activities and Belarus’ collaboration with the RCF.

Belarus joined the RCF in 2012 and is one of the recipients of support.

The Regulatory Cooperation Forum was established in 2010 in response to the request of the IAEA member states to establish an organization that would improve the coordination of assistance provided by countries with developed nuclear power engineering to countries that are starting their nuclear programs. Today the RCF has 26 members.
