Belarus’ economic and tourism potential presented in French Biarritz

MINSK, 17 April (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France Pavel Latushko presented Belarus’ economic and tourism potential to members of the Association of Musketeers in Biarritz, France on 16 April, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian diplomatic representation.

Attending the presentation were 110 members of the association and guests: representatives of the political and military elite, authorities of the region and the city, business elite, lawyers, cultural figures, diplomats, representatives of famous French families.

The Belarusian diplomat was received by head of the association Aymeri de Montesquiou who is a senator of the French Republic and an MP of the European Parliament. In his speech he praised the contribution of the Belarusian people to the victory in the Second World War, emphasizing the mass partisan movement in Belarus during the wartime. He said that he had visited Belarus before and expressed positive impressions about the country.

During the meeting the Belarusian Ambassador to France was honored with the title of the Honorary Member of the Association of Musketeers. Belarus became the 51st country which representatives made part of the association that unites nearly 4,000 participants. Representatives of Russia and Kazakhstan are also part of the association.

The Musketeers of the Guard were founded by Louis XIII in 1622 and existed until 1815. The tradition of awarding the title of the Musketeer was resumed by the association in 1951.
