Belarus, Cuba reaffirm strategic nature of partnership

MINSK, 6 July (BelTA) – Belarus and Cuba reaffirm the strategic nature of partnership and are set to develop their relations, Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Evgeny Shestakov and Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodriguez Parilla said during a recent meeting, spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told a press briefing in Minsk on 6 July, BelTA has learned.

“The parties reaffirmed the strategic nature of the Belarusian-Cuban partnership, and the determination to further strengthen the relations of friendship between the two countries in bilateral and multilateral format. An agreement was reached to hold a number of joint events in the near future to intensify cooperation in different areas of mutual interest,” the spokesman said.

Evgeny Shestakov’s visit to Cuba culminated with bilateral consultations on trade and economic matters. The parties reviewed the status of the relations between Belarus and Cuba in this field, discussed joint projects, and identified promising areas for boosting bilateral trade and strengthening cooperation.

Dmitry Mironchik added that Evgeny Shestakov will also visit Brasilia as part of his tour of Latin America from 7 to 9 July to take part in bilateral consultations on trade and economic collaboration. The participants will discuss the status and prospects of the Belarusian-Brazilian cooperation in economy, and sign documents that will give additional impetus to the bilateral interaction in this field, including a memorandum to set up a joint commission for trade and economic cooperation.
