Belarus, China eager to advance cooperation in science

MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) – Belarus and China are interested in advancing cooperation in science. The matter was discussed during the Belarusian-Chinese research and practice seminar held in the Economics Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus to discuss expert support and analytical support for Belarus-China scientific and humanitarian cooperation as part of the efforts to implement the Belt and Road initiative, BelTA has learned.

Participants of the seminar discussed expert support and analytical support for Belarus-China cooperation, priorities in implementing national development strategies, ways to connect the Belt and Road initiative and the strategy for developing Belarus’ foreign policy, prospects of taking Belarus-China trade and economic cooperation to the next level, and future development of the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone.

Over 40 representatives of research institutions, universities, government agencies, the diplomatic corps, mass media, business community, and experts, who are interested in advancing Belarus-China cooperation in science as well as trade and economic cooperation, took part in the seminar. Belarusian and Chinese specialists held spotlight presentations.

Summing up results of the seminar, Director of the Economics Institute Valery Belsky and Director of the World Economics and Politics Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Zhang Yuyan mentioned the need to advance scientific cooperation in the future, implement new forms of interaction, and expand the list of joint projects.

The seminar was organized by the Economics Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the World Economics and Politics Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) as part of the relevant agreement on cooperation in science.

The two institutes are busy implementing a joint research project to study future operational prospects and the development strategy of the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone from the point of view of the Belt and Road initiative.
