Belarus, China discuss prospects for cooperation in culture

MINSK, 2 June (BelTA) – The second joint meeting of the cultural cooperation commission of the Belarusian-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee for Cooperation was held in Beijing, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in China.

The Belarusian part of the commission was headed by Culture Minister Boris Svetlov, the Chinese one by Culture Minister Luo Shugang.

The participants discussed the state of bilateral exchanges and cooperation in the field of culture over the period since the first joint meeting of the commission, reviewed the cooperation between the organizations of culture and art of the Republic of Belarus and the People’s Republic of China, and summed up the results of the days of culture that the countries had exchanged. In addition, the parties paid attention to the cooperation in the field of cinema and television, library, archives, and publishing business.

Belarus’ Culture Minister Boris Svetlov noted the important role of the Chinese Culture Center in Minsk and the Belarusian Culture Center in Beijing in expanding cultural exchanges.

Yekaterina Dulova, a member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, suggested stepping up the participation of the parties in international arts festivals and competitions.

The sides signed the protocol of the second joint meeting of the cultural cooperation commission of the Belarusian-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee for Cooperation.
