Belarus-China cooperation committee to convene on 4 September

MINSK, 1 September (BelTA) – The first session of the Belarus-China intergovernmental committee on cooperation will be held on 4 September, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

In January 2014 the Premiers of the two countries announced the launch of the program to promote all-round strategic partnership between the Republic of Belarus and the People's Republic of China for the period in 2014-2018. The establishment of the intergovernmental committee on cooperation is an important part of the program.

The first session of the committee will be held in Beijing. It will be co-chaired by Vice Premier of Belarus Anatoly Tozik and member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Secretary of the Central Politics and Law Commission of the Communist Party of China Meng Jianzhu.

The parties are expected to sign the bilateral intergovernmental agreement on the establishment of the Belarus-China intergovernmental committee on cooperation and the protocol of the first session of the committee.

Taking part in the first session of the committee will be Economy Minister of Belarus Nikolai Snopkov, Deputy Foreign Minister Valentin Rybakov, First Deputy Education Minister Vadim Bogush, Deputy Culture Minister Alexander Yatsko and Belarus’ Ambassador to China Viktor Burya.

The committee is designed to coordinate the bilateral cooperation on the level of vice premiers, to strengthen and promote the all-round bilateral partnership based on the agreements reached by the heads of state and government of Belarus and China in 2013-2014.

The committee will include five commissions: the commission for trade and economic cooperation and the commission for sci-tech cooperation that were established earlier, and newly established commissions for education, culture and security.

The Belarusian delegation is set to meet with senior officials of Chinese ministries, banks and companies.
