Belarus attends talks on mutual recognition of visas in Moscow

Photo from the archiveMINSK, 9 November (BelTA) – Belarusian specialists are in Moscow to discuss the mutual recognition of visas in the Union State, First Deputy Interior Minister Ivan Podgursky said at the House of Representatives on 9 November, BelTA has learned.

“Belarusian specialists have gone to Moscow to discuss the matter,” he said.

When asked by Speaker Vladimir Andreichenko if the decision can be taken before the end of 2017, Ivan Podgursky assured that the Belarusian side would do everything possible although the issue under discussion is a complicated one.

Earlier, Belarusian senator, Chairman of the Commission for Foreign Policy at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State Sergei Rakhmanov said that the agreement on mutual recognition of visas between Belarus and Russia can be signed before the end of 2017. The agreement will envisage not only the mutual recognition of visas, but also of other authorization documents, taking into account the events the countries will host in the near future, namely the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and the 2019 Second European Games in Belarus.
