Belarus and Ireland are interested in stronger bilateral relations

MINSK, 17 April (BelTA) – Stronger bilateral relations are in the interests of Belarus and Ireland, Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said in a letter of greetings to his Irish counterpart Charles Flanagan as the two countries celebrate 25 years of diplomatic relations, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Over the years Belarus-Ireland cooperation has been steadily developing and now it covers a wide range of areas, including trade and investment, humanitarian activities, education and culture. “Further expansion of bilateral cooperation and its intensification meet the interests of both the sides,” the letter of greetings reads.

Vladimir Makei also took note of friendly relations between the two countries. Belarus values Ireland’s support in mitigating the consequences of the Chernobyl accident and the help of the Irish people to the Belarusians who were affected by this manmade catastrophe.
