MINSK, 30 August (BelTA) - Baghdad is showing interest in further strengthening of the Belarusian-Iraqi ties. The matter was discussed at a meeting between Head of the Department for Africa and Middle East of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andrei Luchenok and Head of the State Protocol Service Yuri Sluka with a delegation of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by Head of the State Protocol Department Ali Hadi Al-Bayati, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The head of the Iraqi delegation assured that Baghdad continues doing its best to further strengthen the Belarusian-Iraqi relations in the political, economic and other areas. The Iraqi diplomats thanked Belarus for the support provided to Iraq in the fight against terrorism. The parties also expressed hope for the prompt recovery of the Iraqi economy following a devastating war against the so-called Islamic State terrorist group,” the ministry said.
The parties discussed the state and prospects of the bilateral relations and also the cooperation between the foreign political agencies of the two states.
