Agreement on intended figures in Belarus-Russia trade in meat, milk, sugar

MINSK, 4 May (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia have come to terms on how much meat, milk, and sugar the two countries will trade with each other, BelTA learned from Aleksei Bogdanov, Head of the Central Office for Foreign Economic Activities of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

A video conference between the Belarusian and Russian agriculture ministries was arranged on 4 May. “The intended delivery volumes of whole milk powder, butter, cheese, cottage cheese, concentrated milk, and whole milk products had already been agreed. We only had to come to terms on the most sensitive items — skimmed milk powder and whey powder. Today we’ve demonstrated our ability to reach an agreement even in complicated conditions when the common dairy market is unstable. We’ve come to terms on the mutually acceptable intended delivery volumes for the entire range of dairy products. The documents are supposed to be officially signed when a delegation of the Russian Agriculture Ministry visits Minsk after the May holidays,” said Aleksei Bogdanov.

In his words, the Belarusian side and the Russian one will continue working together to monitor the dairy market of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, control the import of dairy products from third countries, and restrict the turnover of palm oil and cheese-like products.
