MINSK, 21 September (BelTA) - Eastern European Dispute Resolution Forum (EEDRF) will bring together representatives of the world’s major law firms in Minsk on 22 September, BelTA learned from the organizers.

The forum is to be attended by more than 200 lawyers, major league players representing the most prominent law firms in the world. Representatives of major European arbitration centers have confirmed their participation: the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce, and many others. The event will be attended by the heads of state-owned companies, experts in the field of litigation and arbitration, law students and members of the academic community and the public sector.

The slogan “Prove it if you can!” defines the main thematic focus of the forum: obtaining of evidence in international commercial arbitration and state courts. The business program will address topical issues on settlement of disputes in Eastern Europe. According to the organizers, the forum will provide a platform for an exchange of views in the format of live discussions. The presentations of the speakers will be based on real cases

Among this year’s innovations are two satellite events due on 21 September: the seminar “Innovations in the 2017 SCC Rules: Costs and Time-Saving Mechanisms” and the colloquium “Alternative to IBA Rules on the Taking of Evidence: Benefit or Time Wasting?”.

The forum is supported by the leading law firms specializing in dispute resolution and also the Arbitration Association (Moscow, Russia), the Ukrainian Arbitration Association and the International Law and Arbitration Association (BILA). The organizing partner of the forum is SBH Law Office. General sponsor is Asters Law Firm.

According to Alexandre Khrapoutski, the co-chairman of the organizing committee of the forum, partner in SBH Law Office, the forum is practice-oriented. It is a unique platform for the countries of Eastern Europe, with no analogues to it. It was set up by lawyers for lawyers. The basic idea is to acquaint lawyers with the dispute resolution mechanisms in the countries of Eastern Europe, tell about the interpretation of the law by the courts in different countries.

The event debuted in 2016 and was a huge success. The forum has already established itself as an excellent platform for communication of practitioners specializing in dispute resolution.
