KEF economic forum in Minsk on 2-3 November

MINSK, 21 September (BelTA) - Kastrycnicky Ekanamicny Forum (KEF 2017) will take place in Minsk from 2 to 3 November, the forum’s organizers told the media on 21 September, BelTA has learned.

“This year we have decided to veer away from the beaten track and try to find out what is missing in order to build a competitive economy in Belarus. This is why the conference is headlined Foundations for the Future,” said the economist Alexander Chubrik, director of the Research Center of the Institute for Privatization and Management.

In his words, this year's edition of the conference will have a different structure. In particular, it will feature two additional panel discussions: Who Will Find Russia? and Minsk Consensus.

According to Alexander Chubrik, the forum will also feature classic discussions and presentations. The first one will be dedicated to global changes in people’s values. “As far as the future is concerned, they are the basis for everything. It is impossible to see the changes in the political and economic landscape without understanding how the values change and what changes them,” the economist remarked.

The second panel will be dedicated to education issues. “When it comes to the future, we will not build a competitive economy without changing the education system even given the most advanced structural economic reforms,” Alexander Chubrik noted.

The third panel will be themed around the necessity of changes in law.
