EBRD, EIB, World Bank launch new enterprise survey in Belarus

MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank and the World Bank are launching a new enterprise survey in Belarus, BelTA learned from the EBRD.

The aim of the study is to obtain the information from the private sector on the business environment in Belarus and to use these data to assess the opportunities for private sector growth and factors restraining this growth. The study will be held through interviews with representatives of private companies in industry and services.

A contract has been signed with the Center for Sociological and Political Research at the Belarusian State University to collect data and survey representatives of companies. This work will begin in October and last until May 2019. The preliminary results of the study will be made public in the second half of next year.

According to the EBRD, the results of the survey will help find solutions to promote investment, increase productivity and accelerate economic growth.

The World Bank Group conducts such surveys around the world and uses a standard methodology. The surveys cover a broad range of areas including productivity, technology and innovation, competition, workforce, informal sector of the economy, access to finance, infrastructure, and the impact of government regulation measures. The survey will also include a module on green economy.

The enterprise survey will be conducted in 40 countries of Europe, Central Asia, Middle East and North Africa.
