MINSK, 26 September (BelTA) – The Fifth Day of German Economy in Belarus will be dedicated to the Belarusian-German cooperation in transport and logistics, Deputy Ambassador of Germany to Belarus, Peter Dettmar, told a press conference.
This event will be held in Minsk on 4 October with the assistance of the German-Belarusian Economic Club and the Office of German Economy in Belarus. The Fifth Day of German Economy is held under the patronage of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Belarus Christof Weil, and continues the tradition of the Days of German Economy in Minsk.
Peter Dettmar stressed that that it is not accidental that the event is dedicated to such important topic as transport and logistics. “The importance of the issue for Belarus is indisputable, which is reflected in the fact that the fifth Transport and Logistics international exhibition and the Belarusian Transport and Logistics Congress will be staged on the same day,” said the head of the German-Belarusian Economic Club. In his words, the issue has great interregional significance and potential for bilateral cooperation.
The German diplomat stated that being a transit country Belarus pays much attention to its transport and logistics sectors. “If we take a look at the government’s action plan for the next five years, we will see a great number of projects aimed at development of the transport and logistics network,” Peter Dettmar said. The biggest projects are the extension of the Minsk national airport and the construction of a number of logistics centers. “There are plans to raise foreign capital for some of the projects. Therefore, the Day of German Economy is a good opportunity to see how German business can be involved in these projects,” Peter Dettmar said.
