GRODNO, 23 September (BelTA) – Chinese businessmen are ready to invest in Grodno Oblast’s construction and services sectors, Division-Chief of Gansu Provincial Department of Commerce Yang Liping said as she attended the Euroregion Neman 2016 expo and fair on 23 September, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus has offered us many opportunities for investment in different sectors, from agriculture to services and international trade. We are also interested in tourism. We want our fellow citizens to get to know about Grodno and Grodno Oblast,” Yang Liping said.

She emphasized that Gansu Province and Grodno Oblast have been actively cooperating since 2014. A center of traditional Chinese medicine is currently under construction as part of a joint project. The hotel Grodno located at the heart of the city will be bought out and renovated. Yang Liping noted that Chinese businessmen are ready for new joint projects. They view construction industry as the most promising cooperation area.

“We have come to partake in the Euroregion Neman expo for the second time. This attests to our commitment to the agreements signed between Gansu Province and Grodno Oblast. It is possible that after the expo and the investment forum, we will be able to talk about new areas of cooperation,” Yang Liping said. She added that the expo in Grodno showcases light industry products, foodstuffs and souvenirs manufactured by enterprises of Gansu Province.

On 23 and 24 September, Grodno is hosting the 18^th edition of the Euroregion Neman expo. Partaking in the international trade show are over 160 companies and organizations from Grodno Oblast, near-border regions of Poland and Lithuania, and also representatives of Russia’s Kaliningrad Oblast.

The international investment forum Grodno Oblast at the Crossing of Borders is held as part of the expo. The program of the expo also includes a business matchmaking session and presentations of investment projects of Grodno and Grodno Oblast, the free economic zone Grodnoinvest, and the tourism and recreation park Augustow Canal. The investment forum has brought together businessmen and representatives of the diplomatic missions of Russia, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania, China, Vietnam, Azerbaijan and other countries.
