Belarus national expo opens in Vilnius

VILNIUS, 16 September (BelTA) – A national expo of the Republic of Belarus opened in Vilnius on 16 September, BelTA has learnt.

Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky and Lithuania Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius took part in the opening ceremony.

The expo features Belarus’ achievements in science and high technologies. The exhibition center LitExpo has gathered around 160 Belarusian companies to demonstrate a large range of products and services, modern achievements of the Belarusian economy and the potential of various economy branches. This year the expo has attracted 40 more participants than in 2007.

It is the sixth national expo of Belarus in Lithuania. The event takes place as part of the Days of Belarusian Economy, Science and Culture in Lithuania. The expo will stay open till 19 September.

In January-July 2009 Belarus-Lithuania trade totaled $238.6 million, 52.6% as against the same period of last year. The foreign trade surplus amounted to $67.7 million. The list of Belarusian exports shipped to Lithuania is close to 500.
