Belarus’ MTZ, Russia’s Krasnoyarsk Krai sign cooperation agreement

MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) - The Belarusian company Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ) and Russia’s Krasnoyarsk Krai signed a cooperation agreement, BelTA learned from MTZ official website.

The document was signed by Deputy Governor of Krasnoyarsk Krai, Regional Minister of Agriculture and Food Policy Leonid Shorokhov and Director General of OOO Trading House MTZ-Sibir Dmitry Belayts. The signing ceremony took place during the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum.

The agreement envisages cooperation in technical modernization of agricultural equipment and providing regional agribusiness with equipment, spare parts, and maintenance services.

MTZ will supply Krasnoyarsk Krai with agricultural equipment BELARUS, will provide pre-sales and after-sales maintenance services, and assist leasing companies in acquiring agricultural equipment.

Dmitry Belayts said that in 2016 OAO MTZ sold 40% more equipment to the regional agribusiness companies as against 2015. “This is a very important indicator. It shows that the regional agribusiness is growing. We hope to boost our all-round development. MTZ is committed to supplying the best equipment to the companies of Krasnoyarsk Krai and provide after-sales maintenance services,” Dmitry Belayts underlined.

For his part, the Krasnoyarsk Krai Administration affirmed its commitment to taking all necessary measures on technical modernization of regional agribusiness, creating conditions to promote agricultural maintenance services and considering proposals on the improvement of the legal framework of Krasnoyarsk Krai.

According to Leonid Shorokhov, today MTZ products account for 70% of the Krasnoyarsk Krai fleet of medium-power tractors. Such structure was formed back in the Soviet period. “We would like to promote cooperation and develop relations with MTZ. We always include our Belarusian partners’ products in the list of the equipment that should be subsidized from the Krasnoyarsk Krai budget according to the local law on state aid to agribusiness companies,” the regional minister said.

In 2017 the Krasnoyarsk State Agrarian University plans to set up a classroom with technical equipment and learning aid of MTZ. This measure is designed to boost the quality of training specialists.
