About 20 investment projects planned in Belarusian transportation, logistics sphere

MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) – There are plans to implement 23 investment projects in the transportation and logistics sphere of Belarus, representatives of the Transport and Communications Ministry told BelTA.

In line with the program for developing the logistics system and the action plan for participation and a better position of Belarus in the World Bank’s logistics index rating in 2012 the Transport and Communications Ministry has to implement 23 investment projects, including four ones for the creation of transportation and logistics centers, each larger than 5,000 square meters. Those are ZAO Belterminal in Brest Oblast, Vestnamuz-Logistik in Grodno Oblast, AOI Logistic Park and ZAO Lekt in Minsk Oblast.

There are plans to build a modern multimodal logistics complex in the free economic zone Brest. It will use and develop the airport. The project will use investments of the Cyprus-based company Ranstel Investment Limited.

The reconstruction of motorways that make part of international transport corridors, modernization of terminals of Belarusian Railways in border checkpoints at the Belarusian-Polish border will continue to keep Belarus attractive for transit.

This year there are plans to take 63 import-substituting actions worth $108 million in the transport industry, 140% up on 2011.
