ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2012 Minsk/Belarus

The ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2012 was held in Minsk, Belarus, on February 27 - March 4, 2012.

The decision to hold the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2012 in Belarus was adopted by the ISU Council on June 14, 2011.

This was not the first time the ISU has staged its events in Belarus.

2007 – International Junior Figure Skating Tournament Golden Lynx in Gomel

2008 – ISU Junior Grand Prix Golden Lynx in Gomel

2009 – ISU Junior Grand Prix in Minsk

The Republic of Belarus hosted the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships for the first time .

The event took place at Minsk Arena (the 15,000 multi-purpose indoor facility).

The tournament was held in four categories: men's singles, ladies’ singles, pair skating and ice dancing.
The opening ceremony took place on February 29. Gala Exhibition was held on March 4.

Participants

The strongest young figure skaters from 52 countries took part in the event.

Belarus’ entries were: Maria Polyakova/Mikhail Fomichev, Victoria Kovaleva/Yuri Belyaev (ice dancing), Pavel Ignatenko (men’s singles) and Kristina Zakharenko (ladies’ singles).

Broadcasting

The ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships in Minsk was broadcasted in 15 countries.
